A woman in the African Context

Naturally most men will over look this write up because they may feel its non of their business. But i assure you it has a lot to do with all of us; male and female alike .
Who is a Woman? A woman is simply an adult female human, capable of bearing offspring(s); the main feature that distinguishes a woman from a man. Our women are generally looked down upon in most countries in Africa. I will limit my instances to West Africa; Nigeria to be specific. In most Nigerian families, a woman  who is first a girl, is saddled with almost all domestic chores, but she has other siblings, possibly brothers, but she does the dishes, does the cooking, serves the meal, tidy's up the home, takes care of the laundry, etc.
It doesn't even end in her fathers house. She moves on to her own family, as a wife, more responsibilities. She is heavily pregnant, she does the cooking, dishes, laundry, takes care of the kids and goes to work very easily. She is a super woman. Then our wonderful man, he goes to work as well, goes clubbing, watches his favorite sports, drinks etc. When he is back home he expects dinner to be served on time. My dear readers is their anything wrong if a man takes care of the kids, the male child does the cooking, the man takes care of the laundry or dishes, while the woman relaxes?

Dear readers lets bring our minds back to the recent happenings in the country. When we read the papers everyday, rape is on the increase, who is mostly affected? Women (girls). Some of us may like to add to the fact that men (boys) are also raped. I do not wish to argue, but let us be frank the woman/girl suffers the rape more than the man/boy in our dear country. It is because how unfair we treat our women, like they are worth nothing.
Job opportunity is also another phase that a woman is degraded. It is very easy to say that what a man can do, a woman can do better. So what makes us think that men are better leaders, bus drivers, pilots, engineers, etc. Give us a chance (women), we are much more better than you think.
You might begin to think, how can i help? If you have the means my dear reader, help a woman. Remember a woman is mas help mate according to the Holy Bible, not to be trampled upon. Do something to help her, and dear women, stand up for your right always. A change begins with you.

God bless women all over Nigeria.
God bless women all over Africa.
God bless women all over the world.
